A personal budget is the money the council allocates to you to meet your unmet care and support needs.
What is a Personal Budget?
When your care and support plan has been agreed with you and your social care worker following the initial assessment we will have a clear idea of your identified needs/outcomes and how much it will cost. This is called your personal budget.
Personal budgets are designed to be flexible and fit your personal circumstances. You can choose how to spend your personal budget providing it meets your outcomes agreed in your care and support plan.
Managing your budget
You will need to decide how you want to receive and manage your personal budget and there are three options you can choose from:
- Direct Payments from the council which gives you complete control
- Arranged support by the council. This is where we will select your care and support from our own services or from other organisations we work with, or
- A combination of both the above options.
You can ask for further advice from your Social Worker as to which of the options best suits your needs/outcome.
