Care Homes With or Without Nursing

If you can no longer manage safely at home, moving to a care home might be a good option for you

In a care home, you have your own room and share areas such as a lounge and dining room, with other residents.

Types of care home

  • Care homes have staff that help you get in and out of bed, wash, dress and go to the toilet. Your meals are provided and there may be social activities too.
  • Some care homes include nursing care from a registered nurse as well as the services from a regular home.
  • Dual registered homes offer both types of care. If you move to this type of home, you may not need to move again if your needs increase or if you're a couples with different levels of need.
