In the event of a major incident the Council will work with the Emergency Services and will have three main objectives:

• To support the work of the Emergency Services
• To care for the community
• To restore the environment

Depending on the type of incident this could involve:

• Providing road diversions and traffic management 
• Providing emergency works on buildings or in areas affected by flooding
• Providing emergency care and welfare for the community
• Providing specialist advice on environmental and pollution issues

BH Continuity Forum

Bournemouth Borough Council is a founding member of the BH Continuity Forum| (BHCF). The BHCF is a group of businesses and organisations wanting to help promote resilience in Bournemouth. Under the Civil Contingencies Act 2004, the Council has a statutory duty to work with other emergency responders in planning for emergencies and to provide business continuity advice to businesses and voluntary organisations.
