FAQs - Information for visitors to Manor Steps

What is happening at Manor Steps?

Bournemouth Council continues to deliver the town’s Seafront Strategy, a long term plan to develop a world-class seafront that will enhance the natural assets of the coastline and create public spaces and facilities to inspire new generations of visitors.

As part of this major regeneration, 2017 sees the arrival of 'Bournemouth Beach Lodges' -15 lodges providing overnight stay accommodation right on the beach for up to 6 people. Improved toilet facilities, a new refreshment kiosk and  a small manned beach office are also opening in early 2017.

I am currently a beach hut tenant at Manor Steps, what should I do?

If you are a beach hut tenant and have any questions please email us or telephone the seafront team on 01202 451781 - option one.

Will there be toilet facilities at Manor Steps during the work?

Toilet facilities at Manor Steps are situated within the area of the works, and as such will have limited access during construction for public safety. When it is not safe to offer access, alternative facilities nearby will be clearly signposted.

Will the zig zag path be affected?

New solar powered lighting has been installed along the zig zag.

During the ongoing work at Manor Steps, there will be times when the zig zag is not accessible for safety reasons. Signage will be put in place at the top and bottom at these times.

Will the promenade be accessible during the works?

Promenade closures may be necessary.

When will work be completed?

The  Bournemouth Beach Lodges are now taking bookings and will be open for Easter 2017.

How can I book to stay in a lodge?

Visit the Bournemouth Beach Lodges website.

You can follow Bournemouth Beach Lodges on facebook.

Does the council have plans for more schemes like this?

Bournemouth’s Seafront Strategy is an ambitious long term plan to develop a world-class seafront that will enhance the natural assets of the coastline and create public spaces and facilities to inspire new generations of visitors.

Beyond current projects, the rest of the strategy is about an aspiration to deliver improvements over the coming years. Future projects will be subject to planning and separate consultation, depending on scale.
