Helping you stay safe at sea
The Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) has lifeguards on Bournemouth’s seafront between May and September each year. There are ten lifeguard stations between Alum Chine and Southbourne, and there’s a service at Boscombe Pier all year.
There are volunteer lifeguards at Durley Chine, Boscombe and Southbourne
We have some advice for staying safe at the sea:
- Always swim at a lifeguarded beach
- Swim between the red and yellow flags
- Never swim alone
- Never use inflatables in strong winds or rough seas
If you get in trouble, stick your hand in the air and shout for help.
