Welcome to Pokesdown Children's Centre, a centre for children and families in the Pokesdown area. Situated off the main Christchurch Road, we are close to Pokesdown train station.

We have a range of activities within the centre and work with groups and services within the community to ensure we meet the needs of local families and children.

The centre has well-equipped and refurbished facilities which include:

Indoor and outdoor learning areas, IT Suite, training rooms, disabled access and information, advice and guidance points.

We have an Ofsted registered creche, which offers Early Education funded places for children aged between three and five years. The creche offers a warm, friendly atmosphere rich in learning opportunities. The setting works towards the Early Years Foundation Stage and Every Child Matters outcomes for children.

All staff have early years qualifications and a wealth of skills and expertise. We are a Healthy Early Years accredited setting and are working towards achieving full Bournemouth Quality Standards accreditation.

Regular sessions include:

• fun with under fives (learning through play group for parents and children)
• varied and accessible adult learning programme - with creche places available on site
• family support services
• Every Child a Talker programme (ECAT) and specialist advice available
• holiday play activities and outings
• under ones group - coming soon

Experienced staff are on hand to deal with queries. We can provide information, help and advice for parents and carers with regards to a range of subjects including:

• family learning
• childcare
• returning to work
• housing needs
• special needs support services

If you require specific additonal support of services then we work closely with our neighbouring children's centres in Southbourne and Boscombe.

Please feel free to just drop in to the centre or contact us directly to talk about any of our sessions. Alternatively a local professional such as your health visitor can advise or refer you.

We are continually looking to develop our services. We hold regular family consultation sessions, which enable parents and children to have a say in our current and future activities. If you are a parent with a child under the age of five and would like to participate in this or have any ideas about what you would like to see happening at the centre please contact us.
