Covering Strouden Park, Throop and Muscliff

 

Welcome to Townsend Children's Centre, a centre for children and families who live in the Townsend, Throop and Muscliff area. We are situated right in the centre of the Townsend community on Jewell Road, next to the local shop and community centre. There is ample free parking for users of the centre.

We offer a wide range of activities and services for local families with children aged from 0 - five and also work in partnership with other local agencies to ensure we are meeting the needs of families living locally. We have a friendly open door policy and there is no need to book for Stay and Play sessions or other open activities.

There are lots of activities for you to choose from and we have an 'open kitchen' cafe area so at anytime you and your family are welcome to pop in. Some of the various activites, courses and workshops held at the centre include: stay and play sesssions, Mummaries Breastfeeding Group, child health clinic, weaning talks, under one's, antenatal classes, Young Parents Group, Saturday activity days, Dad's Group, Polish coffee afternoon, Sunrise Group, Wendy's workshops, Twinkle Toes and Body Conditioning.

We have large beautiful garden areas at the centre, which we encourage families to use at the weekends. We offer children's activities from the Island Annexe which is situated close to the main building. This is a stunning child focused environment and we have friendly helpful staff who run the creches and play sessions for children.

The children's centre is open throughout the school holidays, but our timetable does change to accommodate older siblings. During the holidays we offer activity days with lunch for all the family.

 

We also deliver services at Muscliff Primary School in their community room. Please see details on our programme|.

 

Townsend Children's Centre is also home to Townsend Montessori Nursery, which offers outstanding quality of care and education from two to five years old. The nursery is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9:15am - 4pm and Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 9:15am - 12:15pm.
