Family Information Days are held throughout Bournemouth to highlight the wide range of services available locally for parents, carers and their families.
The aim of the events is to bring a wide range of universal services together in one place to make it as easy as possible for local families to see what is available. The events highlight information, advice and guidance on a range of important topics including childcare, parent courses, family activities, education, health, domestic violence, work, benefits and many, many more.
The next Family Information Days will be held at the Sovereign Centre, Boscombe:
Julian Sandy, Early Years Community Engagement Officer for Bournemouth said “Taking information out into the community has always been a key part of the Family Information Days. People just don’t always know what is available to them and are often overwhelmed when they meet us. The feedback from previous events has been really positive.”
The first Family Information Day was trialled in the Sovereign Centre in Boscombe in 2007. Since then the event has been held all over the borough including Castlepoint Shopping Centre, Winton Farmers Market and Fernheath Playing Field.
Julian said; “Last year we took over 15,000 enquiries through local events and Family Information Days which is really encouraging and shows that people are accessing information which is relevant to them and their family. It’s great to be able to link local families with professionals who can answer their queries on a face-to-face level.”
