25 Inventories

25.1 Overview

The Council holds assets in the form of property, vehicles, equipment, furniture and other items worth many millions of pounds.  It is important that assets should be safeguarded and one of the methods of doing this is to maintain inventories.

25.2 Responsibility/Accountability

25.2.1 Section 151 Officer (click here for all responsibilities for the Section 151 Officer)

In consultation with  Business Unit Heads setting basic standards of records and processes.

25.2.2 Business Unit Heads (click here for all responsibilities for Business Unit Heads)

Ensuring that inventories of assets are maintained in their areas in line with detailed procedures in Part IV.

Reporting deficiencies to the Chief Executive and Section 151 Officer.

Allocating responsibility for individual inventories to specific officers.

25.3 Policy (click here for detailed procedures)

Inventories will be recorded and maintained in line with the detailed procedures contained in Part IV of this document.
