The Member Development Steering Group is made up of three officers and five Member Development Champions, four of whom represent the elected political parties and one who represents Co-opted Members.

The Member Champions are:

Councillor Lynda Price, Conservative

Coucillor Sue Levell, Liberal Democrat

Councillor Anne Rey, Independent

Councillor Beryl Baxter, Labour

Diane Smelt, Co-opted Member

The Officers are:

Joy Postings, Head of Law and Corporate Governance

Kevin Neale, Head of Democratic Services

Joan Bailey, Training & Development Manager, HR Operations

The Steering Group meets on a regular basis to discuss and review the Council's progress in delivering and achieving effective training and development for elected and co-opted Members.

Each elected Member Champion is responsible for relaying information back to their respective political group and for ensuring the Council's aim of achieving Charter Status maintains a high profile.
