Opening Hours
Most Council offices are open at the following times:
8.30am - 5.15pm Monday - Thursday
8.30am - 4.45pm Friday
If you intend visiting any Council office, it's usually a good idea to ring beforehand, to check that the office is open or that the person you want to see is available. This will help ensure that your journey to the Council is not a wasted one.
The main Council telephone number for all services is (01202) 451451. Better still, if you have one, please use the "direct dial" number for the person you want to reach - this often saves time and your money. There is an answerphone service and emergency numbers available for outside normal office hours, and more details can be found in your local telephone directory.
Aims of the Directorate
To provide Bournemouth with the best possible leisure, libraries, cultural and tourism services, generating economic, environmental and social benefits for residents, visitors and local business.
This will be achieved through a range of measures including partnerships with the private and voluntary sectors.
How We Deliver the Service
The three Business Units of the Leisure and Tourism Directorate are:
- Arts, Libraries and Museums - based at the Russell-Cotes Art Gallery, the division also maintains archives and encourages arts development (a copy of the Joint Arts Policy can be viewed by clicking here), and manages all libraries throughout the Borough and various community library services
- Tourism Services - centred at the Visitor Information Bureau in Westover Road, Tourism Services are responsible for marketing the Town, providing an extensive information service and illuminations
- Leisure Services - manage parks and open spaces, indoor and outdoor leisure activities, leisure development and Seafront.
