Case Study: Friends of Kinson Common

The Friends of Kinson Common are a group of local residents who regularly use the Common and care about it’s future. Regular liaison allows the group to highlight areas of concern and a healthy partnership has developed between the Friends, the Council’s Countryside Team and other interested groups.

The group actively seeks external funding sources to assist them in a variety of volunteer tasks that include habitat management, biological recording, guided walks etc. Since their formation, the Friends have acted as a benchmark for similar groups and there are currently five additional ‘Friends of’ groups in various stages of development.
