Action Plan
Use initiatives e.g. Freestyle Card as a mechanism to promote healthy lifestyles. Pursue the provision of cultural facilities and activities, which are more accessible and local provision for residents. Make maximum use of the Sport Englands Active Sports/Active Schools/Active Community programmes. Support Healthy Living initiatives in Wallisdown and Boscombe. Support initiatives, which increase community use of schools, church halls and similar facilities. Work with AFC Bournemouth to optimise community use of their new facility. Develop a range of performance indicators and targets for Cultural Services, to include annual visitor and household surveys. Encourage new tourism facilities aimed at the health/alternative health markets. Support small-scale community driven projects involving people of all ages and backgrounds. Increase opportunities for under represented groups in each Cultural Sector. Support the development of new volunteering groups where there are identified gaps in the provision of Cultural Services. Identify current levels of voluntary groups; promote recruitment in volunteering; produce a Code of Practice for volunteering and promote examples of good practice. Highlight the importance of on going training and support for volunteers and recognise achievements through award schemes
Targets
Increase number of people taking part in Wellness Initiatives by 5% each year. Promote increased membership of Freestyle Card by 20% and have at least 7000 Freestyle Cardholders by 2005. Develop health information provision in libraries through partnership projects by 2003 Increase voluntary hours in Council led initiatives and services to meet the Community Plan target of 25%. Complete Private Finance Initiative scheme for new Central Library and retail development at Triangle by 2002. Achieve at least two National Lottery awards each year.
