Conserve, enhance and promote access
Parks, gardens and countryside are an important part of Bournemouth’s identity covering one-sixth of the Borough. The town is already a national leader in recycling and enjoys very high environmental standards of cleanliness, particularly in shopping areas, parks and beaches.
Although less than 200 years old Bournemouth has a unique heritage linked to its seaside location, including unusual buildings like East Cliff Hall, the Pavilion Theatre with its Compton Organ, and the historic Listed Gardens in Boscombe and Bournemouth - Lottery funding is being pursued to make the best of these assets.
During consultations on the Cultural Strategy, transport and access to cultural activities has proved one of the most important issues to stakeholders. Using means of transport other than the car can be a cultural experience in itself and activities such as walking and cycling directly contribute to health.
