The Local Land Charges section within Democratic Services is responsible for maintaining the Local Land Charges Register and processing local searches normally submitted by solicitors as an essential part of property transactions.

The LLC1 fee has increased significantly due to new legislation and government guidelines requiring authorities to specify and publish fees as from 1st April 2007 to recover the full cost of the service.
Please note: when submitting a request for a full local search you need to include forms LLC1 and Con 29 in duplicate. These can be obtained from your solicitor/conveyancer or a legal stationer.

- Commons registration searches are now available on-line through NLIS. Searches are completed and returned on day of receipt.

Our Standards:
Our aim is to complete all searches within 10 workings days as per Government targets.
The current turnaround time for the week commencing 28/07/08 is 3 working days.

The Local Land Charges reception is located at the St Stephen’s Road entrance to the main town hall complex. The office is open from 9.00am to 4.30pm Monday to Thursday and 9.00am to 4.00pm on Friday.
