• Your Welfare & Support - Your Council develops and delivers a wide range of services to support vulnerable children and adults in their own homes or in residential care
  
• Your House, Home and Neighbourhood - Your Council is landlord to more than 15,000 local people and a source of help with accommodation for many more. Through its Community Development programme, your Council is working to create safer, more prosperous and better neighbourhoods for all.
  
• Your Roads and Pavements - Your Council is responsible for maintaining local roads and highways
  
• Your Local Environment - Your Council is responsible for emptying the bins and for keeping our streets, parks, gardens and beaches clean
  
• Your Education - Your Council is responsible for supporting local schools and for creating learning opportunities for everyone
  
• Your Sports, Leisure and Entertainment - Your Council runs a wide range of sports, leisure, information and entertainment facilities
  
• Your Local Economy - Your Council is the biggest provider of services in the town. One of its key tasks is to support local businesses and bring prosperity to our town. It does this through economic development; by marketing the town as the destination for tourism and conferences, and by protecting consumer rights.
  
• Your Town’s Future - Your Council manages the District-wide local plan, the ‘blue-print’ for how our town develops in terms of housing, green belt and commercial land use
  
• Your Council Tax! - Your Council is responsible for agreeing how much money needs to be spent on delivering local services and for working out how much of this money will have to be raised locally via the Council Tax
