E-Base Evidence base for policy across Bournemouth, Dorset and Poole
General Overview
E-Base was first set up in April 2002 to support evidence based policy making across Bournemouth, Dorset and Poole. Its programme of work included setting up a database of comparable data for the whole of Dorset, improving access to and promoting published research on issues affecting Bournemouth, Dorset and Poole and facilitating a network of researchers and data managers from a wide range of public agencies across the sub-region.
In recent years, developments at the national level in terms of access to data has removed the need for E-Base to maintain a database of local data, so the emphasis has shifted towards supporting a network of researchers and data users and promoting local research findings to a wide audience.
In the last 2 years E-Base has held many successful seminars on topics ranging from local population forecasts to affordable housing and migrant workers. For more about E-Base seminars please follow the links to past seminar information and presentations and the forthcoming events.
E-Base is managed by a board of representatives from Bournemouth Borough Council, Dorset County Council, the Borough of Poole, Dorset Fire and Rescue Services, Dorset Police, Bournemouth and Poole PCT (Primary Care Trust) and Dorset PCT and the South West Regional Development Agency from which E-Base also receives financial support.
