Tax Credits
Tax credits are payments from the government to help with everyday costs. If you are responsible for for at least one child or young person who normally lives with you, you may be eligible for child tax credit. If you work, but earn low wages, you may be eligible for working tax credit. Working tax credit includes an element to support the costs of registered or approved childcare for working parents.

Childcare Vouchers
Childcare vouchers are used to pay for registered and approved childcare. Childcare vouchers are exempt from tax and national insurance contributions. These savings can be doubled if both partners take the full allowance. Speak with your employers personnel department to see whether they run a childcare voucher scheme.

Care to Learn Scheme
Care to Learn provides financial assistance to young parents to pay for childcare so that they can start a new college course to continue with their education and improve their chances of getting a job and being independant. The scheme is part of the Learning and Skills Council's learner Support Programme. Between August 2007 and July 2008, Care to learn will deliver financial assistance of up to £160 per child, per week.
