The Council is responsible for enforcing laws relating to Environmental Health, Trading Standards and Licensing (including Private Sector Housing). These relate to certain aspects of health, public safety and consumer protection. The Enforcement Policy makes sure we operate the service based on the principles of transparent, accountable, proportionate and consistent enforcement, aiming to improve regulatory outcomes without creating unnecessary burdens for businesses.
