What is Bournemouth's Waste Strategy?

The Bournemouth Municipal Waste Management Strategy (MWMS) is a framework of how Bournemouth Borough Council intends to manage the municipal waste (including domestic and some commercial waste) produced within the Borough, for the next fifteen years, the overall aim of which will be to promote and implement sustainable waste management.

 

What documents are included within the Municipal Waste Management Strategy?

The content of the MWMS includes the following key components:

 

Headline Strategy|

This document outlines the current waste situation and how the situation can be improved.

Baseline Report|

This document outlines where Bournemouth is now.

Key Drivers Report|

This document outlines the legislation Bournemouth Borough Council must adhere to.

Waste Treatment Technologies Report|

This document outlines a description and explanation of each of the proposed waste treatment technologies.

Options Appraisals Report|

This document outlines a detailed description of waste collection and treatment options.

Consultation Report|

This document will detail how stakeholders and the local community have been involved in shaping the MWMS.

The Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) Environmental Report|

This document is a forecast of the likely environmental impacts of the MWMS.

Recycling and Composting Action Plan|

This document outlines key activities to increase waste awareness and change behaviour to reduce the amount of waste produced in Bournemouth.  

Waste Prevention Plan|

This document outlines proposals and campaigns relating to waste reduction and prevention in Bournemouth.

Commercial Waste and Recycling Action Plan|

This document outlines proposals and initiatives to encourage and support commercial organisations in relation to waste management and recycling.
