Battery Recycling

Battery-recycling

Did you know around 600 million UK batteries - weighing the equivalent to 110 jumbo jets - are sent to landfill unneccessarily each year? As each household uses on average 21 batteries a year, Bournemouth residents throw away around 1.6 million batteries annually.

You can now recycle your household batteries at collection drop-off points around the town. Any battery of between 1.5 and 9 volts can be dropped into the containers where they will be collected free of charge by recycling contractor BatteryBack| and taken for recycling rather than ending up in landfill.

Where can I take them?

Household batteries can be recycled in battery recycling bins at:

  • All libraries across Bournemouth
  • Littledown Centre
  • Stokewood Road Leisure Centre
  • Bournemouth Council's Southcote Road Depot
  • Millhams Community Recycling Centre

There are also battery recycling bins in most shops that sell batteries.
