Renting a Garage

You can apply for a garage online| or contact us| and we will send a form out to you. Our garages| are located all around the borough. 

 

Monthly Costs

Council tenants pay £8.72 per week,  Council Leaseholders pay £10.36 per week and Non-Council residents pay £12.43 (£10.36 + £2.07 VAT) as show in the table. Council leaseholders and non-Council residents are required to pay a £50 deposit.

Base & Plot Sites

We also have base sites & plots you can rent.  It is possible to rent the base and erect your own garage for a cheaper overall rent. The cost of renting is shown in the tables below.  If you would like more information regarding base & plot sites please contact us.

Available Garages

Anyone can apply for a garage but we will give priority to our council tenants.  There may be a waiting list when you apply to us and we will let you know when a garage becomes available.  The length of time that you will have to wait will depend on the site and how many other people are waiting. We currently have garages available in the following areas as of May 2013:

Council garages are intended for the storage of a motor vehicle and may not be sufficiently watertight or secure for storing any other items.  You should not store petrol or any other flammable materials in your garage.  You should not sublet| your garage to anyone else.

We require 1 week's notice if you want to give up your garage.  When you give us back the keys the garage should be empty and swept through.  We will charge you if we have to clear it and you may lose your deposit.

 

Paying the Rent

When you get a garage we will ask you to set up a direct debit to pay the rent.  There are also different ways of paying us|.

If you do not pay your rent we will write to you. If you do not respond then we will end your tenancy and change the locks.  Anything left behind in the garage will be disposed of.
