Consultation – Houses in Multiple Occupation
A Scheme to Improve Homes in Winton

Bournemouth Borough Council is considering the options available to improve the conditions and management of Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMOs) in and around the Winton area. The area being considered includes three wards, (Winton East, Wallisdown and Winton West and the Queens Park Ward)

Following initial discussions of the options available, the Council's preferred option is currently the introduction of an additional licensing scheme.

There is a high concentration of HMOs in the Winton area of the town. Our research shows that the level of complaints from tenants, members of the public and referrals from other organisations about the condition and management of these properties has increased. The complaints are generally in connection with the conditions inside the HMOs, noise from loud music and parties and general problems of anti-social behaviour affecting local residents and communities.

Have your say

The purpose of this consultation is to seek your views about the options being considered. The Council invites comments from all affected stakeholders including local residents, landlords, letting and managing agents, businesses, public bodies, the universities and colleges and the emergency services and other individuals and bodies who have an interest in the Winton area and would like to express their views.
