Postcards  - Centenary Embroidery

Winning entries in the 'Postcards for Peace'  embroidery competition are now available to buy as postcards from your local library|.

 

Postcards are 45p each or £2.50 for a set of 7 cards

Postcards sold on behalf of the Mayor's Charity Appeal.

 

With grateful thanks to the talented winners Sue Annandale, Sarah Appleton, Judith Cutler, Doff Davies, Hazel Loach and Diane van Bueren. The design by Mrs Loach will also be planted in flowers in Bournemouth's Lower Gardens.

 

Heritage

Bournemouth Libraries has information about Local and Family History in all of its libraries.

The specialist centre for Bournemouth Libraries is the Heritage Zone, at Bournemouth Library| on the second floor.  Here you can trace your ancestors, whether they are local or not, and discover the history of Bournemouth. The collection has been developed over many years and  is rich in information about the history of Bournemouth, Dorset and Hampshire. 

 

The Heritage Zone has a research service|, and provides services for schools|   The collection of materials in the Heritage Zone has been developed over many years for a full list of read our Collection Guide|. You can also discover our Online Resources|. If you need help please contact  |one of our knowledgeable staff.

 

Visiting the Heritage Zone

Much of the material listed in the Collection Guide is on microfilm, microfiche and CD-Rom or is available via the Internet. Copies can be made for a small charge. If you would like to view these materials please let us know| and we can reserve a viewer or computer in advance.

There is a photocopier and scanning service (subject to copyright) for most of the material for which there is a charge.  Most of the material in the Heritage Zone is unique and for reference only, so that it is accessible at all times. Some books are available for loan and these are indicated by the letters LH on the spine.
