The Borough of Bournemouth has a wide variety of parks and gardens, both formal and informal. These sites include colourful flower beds, trees from around the world, bowling greens, various children's play facilities, sports facilities and much more.
Eleven of the parks and gardens that Bournemouth Borough Council maintains are Green Flag sites|. Two of these, Boscombe Chine Gardens and Redhill Park, are also Local Nature Reserves. There are three other LNRs which are Green Flag sites - Kinson Common, Hengistbury Head and Stour Valley - giving Bournemouth a total of fourteen Green Flag sites as of July 2013.
Bournemouth's Parks are regularly entered in the Britain in Bloom competition, and those sites entered in 2013 enjoyed considerable success.
