Bournemouth Borough Council has a tremendous variety of open spaces and areas of countryside under its management. These are important havens for wildlife, and ten of these sites have been designated as Local Nature Reserves. These reserves contain a variety of habitats, including heathland, woodland, meadows and river, and coastal habitats including reedbeds, saltmarsh and cliffs. The ten nature reserves are:
There is always something of interest to be seen on these sites throughout the year, and our image of the week| features a particular species of flora or fauna, or a view of one of our parks, gardens or areas of countryside, which is especially worth seeing at that time.
