Boscombe Pier has recently undergone a £2.4 million restoration project as part of the Boscombe Spa Village regeneration scheme. The pier has been transformed with a new Reefside Café, takeaway and beach shop in the grade II listed entrance building, new seating, decking, handrails and windbreak, as well as a viewing platform at the end of the pier. A heritage trail along the windbreak provides a fascinating insight into the history of the two piers that have stood on this site since 1889.
A number of activities run by Inspieration – the Friends of Boscombe Pier| take place throughout the year. This community group was formed in September 2008, and takes part in fundraising and organising community events on the pier.
In 2009 Boscombe Pier was declared ‘Britain’s coolest pier’ by Wayne Hemingway MBE. In 2010 Boscombe Pier was voted ‘Pier of the Year’ by the National Piers Society in 2010.
There is no toll fee for Boscombe Pier and winter opening hours are 9am to 4pm. Fishing off the end of the pier is permitted. Charges apply. Contact Boscombe Beach Office| for more information or tel: 01202 451773
