Bournemouth is renowned for its seven miles of soft, golden sands and sheltered bathing waters, securing 4 Blue Flag Awards|, 2 Quality Coast Awards and a Green Tourism Business Scheme Silver Award.
We have award-winning beachside restaurants, cafes, bars, water sports, beach games, amusements and piers, with a whole host of attractions and events throughout the year.
To ensure your day on the seafront is stress free, we have scenic land trains| to take you across the beach between Alum Chine, Bournemouth Pier and Boscombe Spa Village – a brand new £11 million beach lifestyle destination.
We also operate three cliff lift railways| offering spectacular views and easy access too and from the beach. Enjoy fantastic walks along the cliff tops with sweeping views across the bay from the Isle of Wight to Studland.
The seafront features two piers at Bournemouth and Boscombe. Bournemouth Pier| offers two restaurants, a family fun amusement arcade featuring all the latest games, pier theatre and children’s entertainment. Traditional deck chairs are available together with regular excursion boat rides. Boscombe Pier|, voted ‘Pier of the Year 2010’ features a new shop and café in its Grade II listed entrance building, a heritage trail and magnificent views from the end.
We have over 200 beach huts| available for you to relax in by the day or week. And over 3,000 of our famous blue and yellow candy-striped deck chairs, together with sun beds, windbreaks and parasols are available across the seafront for you to use.
For your safety the RNLI Beach Lifeguard| Teams and Volunteer Lifeguards provide constant surveillance between May and September. Along with the LV= Kidzone| scheme operating in July and August.
Our Seafront Ranger team patrol the promenades and operate six beach offices at Alum Chine, Durley Chine, Bournemouth, Boscombe, Fisherman’s Walk and Southbourne. They are there to offer helpful, friendly advice and make your visit as enjoyable as possible.
