The following instructions demonstrate how to open 'One Way' encrypted emails received from the Bournemouth Borough Council email system. Emails sent using this method are encapsulated into a password protected ZIP file which is received by ‘you’ the recipient.
Before opening a ZIP Encrypted email please ensure the following pre-requisites have been met
A password will be required to open the encrypted ZIP file attached to the email you have received from Bournemouth Borough Council. Each email sent from the Council has a unique reference number and password, so you will not get mixed up if multiple emails have been sent to you. If the sender has not contacted you with the password then please contact them directly to attain it.
On receipt of the password save the file attachment 'original_email.zip' into a directory of your choice.
Locate this saved file and right click the file to extract and enter the requested password
Once the extraction has finished you can view the email and any attachment(s) inside the extracted folder.
PLEASE NOTE IF YOU REPLY TO THE ENCRYPTED MESSAGE IT WILL NOT BE SECURE
