Town Centre Vision
About the Vision
How would you like to see Bournemouth improved?
“This is your town and we want you to be proud of it. That’s why Bournemouth Borough Council is developing a long term Town Centre Vision.
We’re not just floating ideas – your input could have a very real impact on the major decisions of the months and years ahead.
Our aim is to create a legacy for the next generation by making the town an even more attractive place to spend leisure time and by adding to its thriving economy.
Initially we’ll be focusing on a circuit taking in the Pier Approach, Exeter Road, Gervis Place, Hinton Road and Bath Road. We’ll also look at Old Christchurch Road and the wider Town Centre area up to the railway station.
As a Council we’d like to see more quality injected into the town. In the not too distant future plans could be considered for two redundant cinemas in Westover Road and the old ice rink site.
We’d like to be much more proactive in planning the attractions, infrastructure and amenities Bournemouth needs. Getting a clear idea of what residents want will influence the types of major developments coming to the town.
Opinion is being sought from key stakeholders including the South West Regional Development Agency, Bournemouth 2026 and representatives from other businesses and organisations.
We’d like to know what types of shops you’d like, how you think key areas of the town could be better linked, what leisure attractions you want and where you want them. We’d also like your thoughts on the road and pedestrian networks around the town.
But we want these ideas to come from you – we’re certainly not going to put words into your mouth.
Keep an eye on this website, BH Life and the Bournemouth Daily Echo for up to date information and a chance to give your opinion.”
