In preparation for the Unison members strike on 16th and 17th July, we are doing everything possible to avoid disruption to front line services. We have negotiated with Unison that those staff involved in ‘life and limb’ services for the most vulnerable in society will come to work as normal.
The expected impact of the strike action on other, non-‘life and limb’ services in Bournemouth is, to an extent, unknown, as staff are not obliged to inform us whether they intend to strike or cross picket lines. Non-urgent elements of some services may be disrupted, including housing solutions, housing advice, inspections and repairs.
Expected service disruptions:
- All libraries in Bournemouth are expected to close on both Wednesday and Thursday.
- some public Council meetings may be cancelled, if those staff who would normally facilitate them are on strike.

Residents should plan for their usual household refuse and scheduled recycling collections on both days, but disruptions cannot be ruled out. If so, arrangements will be made to collect additional household waste the following week.
