- Celebrating 35 years
CELEBRATING 35 years of keeping Bournemouth's children engaged and amused during the summer holidays, Boredom Busters is gearing up for another busy season.
Bookings are now being taken for the play scheme which caters for more than 1,200 youngsters at nine outdoor locations in the mornings and at two schools all day.
Organisers of Boredom Busters say they also want to recruit additional play workers for the six-week summer programme.
New for the children this year is pottery painting as well as activities linked to the Bournemouth Air Show.
"Generations of Bournemouth children have spent their summers with Boredom Busters. We offer games, activities, and craft sessions to keep their little minds busy," said Judith Shaw, borough play development officer.
"Kids can also improve their sports skills, with tips from coaches. Entertainers are also at hand to keep boredom at bay and there'll even be clowns keeping spirits high."
The scheme, which is social services and Ofsted registered, caters for four to 12-year-olds and is fully inclusive.
It starts on July 23 and runs until August 29, excluding Bank Holiday Monday.
Morning sessions at the outdoor venues cost £3.50 per child, but a 20 per cent discount is available if 20 or more mornings are booked in advance and paid for by July 1.
The all day school venues cost £7 for a half day or £16 for the full.
