Keen gardeners of all ages and abilities are invited to help launch the new Keeble Community Garden in Kinson this Saturday (May 17).

Deputy Mayor of Bournemouth, Councillor Bob Chapman, will formally open the new garden between 11am and 2pm.

The launch of the garden in Keeble Road was organised by Children’s Outreach Project on Keeble in partnership with Action 4 Keeble Residents Committee, Bournemouth Borough Council’s Parks and Country side Department and Safer and Stronger Communities.

Cllr Bob Chapman, said: “Community gardens are an excellent example of how the community can work together to improve the quality of live for all. Having young people taking part is an added bonus and I hope it will bridge the gap between the younger and more senior residents of the community.”

Tracy Wilson, leader in charge for Keeble Children’s Outreach project, said: “I hope the garden will help create community unity and pride pride. I’m looking forward to spending an afternoon of gardening a week with the young people and hope more residents will volunteer to help.”

Sandi Stockdale, Neighbourhood worker for Kinson, said: “We’re thrilled the Council has given funding for this project, which gives everyone the opportunity to have a go at gardening.  An added bonus is that we will be creating a little haven for bumble bees and butterflies and other insects.”
