2010 saw Bournemouth celebrate its 200th year.
A year-long programme of celebrations took place, with events and activities across the town. We had a long list of community events, from school competitions to theatre productions, Scout and Guide activities to natural history events, food festivals and dance contests, lined up for the Bournemouth 200 programme.
The town’s Bicentenary celebrations were very much be owned by the people of Bournemouth. This was a unique opportunity for people of all ages and from all communities, whatever their interests, to get involved.

Projects to leave a lasting legacy are underway - see the Bicentenary legacies page| for details.
The Queen has also recognised the celebrations in Bournemouth and sent her 'warm wishes' to all the residents of Bournemouth.
