The Council is investing almost £2 million in four key areas during 2011/12 as a direct response to priorities flagged up by residents in last autumn's Budget Consultation and to try and reduce future maintenance costs.
Environmental street scene improvements, road and pothole maintenance, anti social behaviour initiatives and support for local businesses will all benefit on top of the £3 million announced last year.
The money will be spent on the following:
|
Road Rescue|: Building on the £2.9 million campaign announced a year ago a further £300,000 is being invested in more re-surfacing and maintenance works plus an additional £150,000 for pothole repairs.
Smart Streets:| More than £1 million is being spent on environmental street scene improvements including painting lamp posts and additional street cleaning.
Safer Communities|: Around £160,000 will be used to work on initiatives to prevent anti social behaviour, improve community facilities and promote neighbourhood safety.
Boosting Business|: Building on the Council’s previously announced £1 million Recession Fund an additional £300,000 is being spent on initiatives supporting local businesses and jobs.
