What does the Steering Group do?
Many of the issues the Partnership deals with are linked – for instance, the economy and people’s health, crime and environment. To help us focus and make progress, the Partnership deals with most issues through the five Bournemouth Partnership Forums. However, three issues have been highlighted in this plan by partners as being ‘crosscutting’ – that is, they cannot be addressed effectively by any one Forum or Partner. They are:
- Transport Matters
- Involving People
- Neighbourhood Services
These issues were considered at the Bournemouth Partnership Conference 2003 and subsequently by the Partnership’s Steering Group and a meeting of the Partnership Forum Chairs. It was decided that in order to make sustainable improvements in these area, progress needs to be driven by the Steering Group.
The Steering Group is committed to:
- Future development of the Bournemouth Partnership and its Community Plan, to make measurable improvements to quality of life and public services in Bournemouth.
- Approval of the draft revised Community Plan following its review every 2 years.
- Increasing the Bournemouth Partnership’s capacity to tackle the Community Plan, by co-coordinating resources more efficiently and avoiding duplication of effort.
- Making partnership working more effective – for example, fewer, more inclusive forums focused on Community Plan priorities which means fewer meetings and more action.
- Supporting Bournemouth Partnership bids for Government funding for Community Plan initiatives.
- Ensuring good communication and responsive consultation with the wider Bournemouth Partnership, the people and the communities in Bournemouth – including the people working for them or who give up their time and effort voluntarily.
