You can get married or have a civil partnership in any Register Office or licensed venue (e.g. hotel, stately home, school etc.) in England and Wales and you don’t have to live in Bournemouth to have your ceremony here.
Wherever you choose to marry or have your civil partnership, all couples have to give Notice of Marriage or Civil Partnership at their local Register Office indicating that they are free to marry or have a civil partnership. Now the law has changed, both partners have to attend the office in person. Notice cannot be given by a friend or relative. If you live in different districts you will each have to attend your local office and there is a fee of £35.00 each, payable at the time. Marriages or Civil partnerships can be arranged twelve months in advance of the date of the ceremony. If you do not want to give such advance notice, applications must be received 16 days before the date of your ceremony.
Couples bringing foreign divorce documents which need veritifcation from the Registrar General's Office will be subject to an additional £10 administration fee and any potocopying required will be charged at .30p per sheet.
Bournemouth Registration Services will request some of the following documents:
All must be original documents, photocopies will not be accepted

Under the provision of the Places of Worship Registration Act 1855, a congregation may apply for a certified building of worship by applying to the Superintendent Registrar in the district where the venue is situated. This excludes churches or chapels of the Church of England, unless it shares a church building with another religious denomination. For more information please contact us.
