Census

Please use the links on the left to obtain information relating to the Census of 1901, 1991,  2001 or 2011.

All the 2001 Census results have been published by the Office of National Statistics.  Detailed statistics are available from national level down to output area (the smallest geography of around 125 households) and includes information on population, people, places and families, ethnicity and religion, health, work and housing.  Key statistics are available from national level down to the smallest geography of output areas. 

The 2001 Census recorded a population for Bournemouth on Census night (29th April 2001) of 163,444, an increase of 12,139 since the 1991 Census.

2011 Census
