Town Centre Area Action Plan

WholeTownCentre

Introduction

Area Action Plans are a specific type of planning policy document that form part of our Local Development Framework.  Area Action Plans are produced when there is a need to provide a detailed planning framework where significant change is anticipated.  We know that significant improvements are needed to ensure the town centre remains competitive and therefore it is appropriate to prepare an Area Action Plan for the town centre area.  The AAP supports the Council's long-term aspirations expressed through the Town Centre Vision.

How is the Area Action Plan Prepared?

Preparing an Area Action Plan involves a number of different stages, click on the links for more information about the different stages

After the Public Examination the Area Action Plan can be formally adopted, we hope this will be in summer 2012.

National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF)

The Government has recently published the National Planning Policy Framework and Planning Policy for Traveller Sites.  Representations on the matters raised in these documents as far as they relate to the Town Centre Area Action Plan examination were invited by 27 April 2012.

Evidence

Technical evidence is gathered during the preparation of the plan, a list of this evidence can be viewed on the Area Action Plan Evidence| page. Gathering public opinion is also an important part of preparing the plan, clicking on the different stages above allows you to see what people have said at each stage.

Scoping Report for the Sustainability Appraisal of the Core Strategy and Bournemouth Town Centre Area Action Plan

In accordance with the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004 the AAP is to be the subject of Sustainability Appraisal (SA). The purpose of the SA is to promote sustainable development to ensure that sustainability issues are taken into consideration when preparing plans.
