Anti Social Behaviour Service Standards

1. Anti-social behaviour complaints are logged on our computer system (Flare) within 3 days of receipt.

2. The complainant will be contacted within seven working days, usually by phone.  Further details are then taken of the complaint and advice given about the proposed course of action. This may include passing on the complaint to the appropriate agency to deal with e.g.

  • Environmental Health for noise complaints
  • Housing Landlord Services for complaints involving Council Housing tenants

3. Within the next seven working days one of the following actions will be carried out, depending on the detail of the complaint:

  • Sending of diary sheets,
  • A letter suggesting mediation, or
  • A letter advising that there is insufficient data to pursue the complaint.

Alongside this we will contact relevant partner agencies to discuss the complaint and any appropriate action; Police, Housing Associations, Youth Offending team etc.

4. Complainants are asked to keep and complete diary sheets for up to 21 days, detailing incidents of anti-social behaviour.  Five weeks after receiving the comaplint we will write to complainants if diary sheets have not been received.

5. Once diary sheets have been received, the Anti-social behaviour team will discuss the appropriate course of action with the relevant partner agencies and the issue may be referred to the Anti-Social Behaviour Operational Group to agree a course of action.

6. At this stage it is impossible to say exactly how long the investigation will take or promise an outcome satisfactory to all parties, as this will be influenced by the available evidence, such as the willingness of others to speak out.

7. Throughout the duration of this process, the complainant will be kept informed of progress and any decisions made to close the case, although it may not be possible
