The action the council takes against the perpetrator is dependent on the available evidence:
- If there is very little evidence and there are no other witnesses or complainants we may not be able to take any action other than speaking with the alleged perpetrator/s.
- If the evidence is more substantial we may ask a partner agency with more appropriate powers to intervene, this could be the Police, Environmental Health or your landlord. In these instances we may advise and support them through the process.
- In the case of young people we would alert Bournemouth’s Youth Service and/ or Social Services if the person is thought to be vulnerable. In the most severe cases criminal or civil proceedings may be brought resulting in:
- Fines
- Evictions
- Anti-Social Behaviour Orders
- Injunctions
