The Conservation and Design section prepare Conservation Area Character Appraisals and Management Plans. They are consultants on applications and appeals relating to listed buildings, locally listed buildings, buildings in conservation areas, historic parks and gardens and design proposals on major schemes.
The section has an input into the formulation of conservation policies within the local plan (LDF) and provides guidance and advice to the Planning Control Section, Council members and the public. It also proactively raises the awareness of conservation issues through: the production of guidance booklets, Civic Design Awards, enhancement schemes, historic environment management, blue plaques and a list of locally important buildings.
Current Consultation
Bournemouth Borough Council has produced a Draft Conservation Area Appraisal for the Meyrick Park and Talbot Woods Conservation Area.
This document sets out the Council’s definition of the special interest of the Meyrick Park and Talbot Woods Conservation Area which, once adopted, will be used as a basis for planning decisions. It is open for all interested parties to submit their views to the Council by 20 March 2009 which will be taken into account before adoption of the final appraisal.
