The town has maintained its beautiful natural environment while providing a thriving built and social environment. Bournemouth has a part to play in addressing both global and local environmental concerns and is committed to finding sustainable solutions to environmental pressures.

Improving the environment is one of the Council’s five strategic priorities. These have been set to provide a clearer focus on the most important issues for Bournemouth. Each of our priorities has a designated cabinet member and director responsible for leading on its achievement. For each of our priorities we have identified a number of outcomes.
 

To improve the environment we have identified the following as priority outcomes:

• Reducing traffic congestion
• Improving our streetscene
• Improving recycling & energy management
• Taking an active role to respond to climate change
• Improving quality of existing space
