The Grimm Depths is a Libraries project exploring fairy tales - their origins, development and place in contemporary literature.
It was run under the auspices of the Bournemouth and Poole Cultural Hub. Six Bournemouth schools and four Poole schools were involved in author and illustrator workshops, with media and puppetry artists and the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra.
Renowned children's author Geraldine McCaughrean, who was commissioned to write the official sequel to the modern fable Peter Pan, opened the project with a series of talks on 23 November 2007.
Children from each school produced a section of film based on their version of the story of Snow White. This was incorporated into an imaginative installation. They can be viewed at Grimm Depths Films. Also available are a series of stimuli, lesson plans, ideas and interesting things to do created by library staff and artists for the project . To access this resource pack please go to Grimm Depths ideas and things to do (this will open as a multi-page 697Kb pdf file in a separate window)
