Type Approval is a means of cutting out unnecessary checking work where buildings of the same type are constructed in different local authority areas. Through LANTAC, the Local Authority National Type Approval Confederation, buildings and building systems given national type approval can be erected throughout England and Wales with only the minimum of site specific plan checking by the local authority.
