Do I Need Permission To Display Signs And Advertisements?

The rules governing advertisements are quite complicated and are controlled by separate regulations to planning applications. The need for consent depends upon a number of factors, such as size, height, the use of the building or land upon which an advertisement is displayed and whether or not the sign is illuminated. A more detailed booklet explaining the rules is available free of charge from Planning and Transport.

For applications for those signs and advertisements which require consent, there is no requirement for publicity by way of a site or press notice.
