What is the Bournemouth Plan (Core Strategy)?
The Bournemouth Plan is the name of Bournemouth Borough Council’s Core Strategy. It forms a part of the Local Development Framework, which will in time replace the Local Plan, it will:
- Set an overall vision setting out how Bournemouth should develop in the future
- Set objectives and policies for Bournemouth
- Put a delivery strategy in place to achieve the objectives
- Show how the delivery of the strategy will be managed and monitored
The first public stage of consultation (Issues and Options) ran from 14 August 2009 to 9 October 2009 (Details of documents and responses in ‘Downloads’ section below). Responses to that consultation have been used in helping to develop the next stage of the Plan (the ‘Preferred Options’).
The public consultation on the Preferred Options ran from 30th June 2010 to 13th August 2010, members of the public and anyone else with an interest in the borough’s future were invited to send their views and comments. These responses have now been received and will be considered in the drafting of the submission draft of the plan (expected to undergo a public consultation into its 'soundness' beginning Febraury/March 2011).
In addition to this consultation document, a Sustainability Appraisal was produced and was subject to the same consultation. This document assesses the proposed objectives and options considered in the Preferred Options document against sustainability criteria.
The Bournemouth Plan is also the subject of a Habitats Regulations Assessment Report. To view the document, please click on the link in the 'Downloads’ section below.
A summary report is being produced. This will be presented to the Local Development Framework Steering Group. The full unabridged comments can be found via the 'Consultation Responses' link below.
