Quality Of Life

A Special Place to Live and Work...

Bournemouth residents are in the privileged position of living on the coast, with miles of beautiful beaches and over 1,800 acres of gardens and open spaces, and yet only a short distance from the unspoilt countryside of rural Dorset and the ancient New Forest. At the same time, the town's central southern position means that travel is easy. The rest of the UK and the Continent are readily accessible, via well-developed road and rail networks, cross-channel ferry sailings from the Port of Poole, and world flights from Bournemouth's International Airport.

The award-winning facilities which bring millions of visitors to Bournemouth give it a unique atmosphere, and provide an ideal focal point for arts, sport and entertainment in the local area. Close proximity to Poole and Christchurch allows the town's residents easy access to a wide range of services, and high quality communications links facilitate fast travel across the UK and beyond. Bournemouth offers both its residents and its workforce an excellent quality of life.

Bournemouth Agenda 21

Caring for the Environment

Protecting the environment for future generations, through sustainable development, is the main aim of Bournemouth Agenda 21. The Council has its own Environmental Charter but as well as looking at how the Council itself affects the environment we also promote 'green practice' to local businesses and encourage involvement by the whole community.
