Colleges and Universities
Bournemouth offers excellent opportunities for further and higher education. Bournemouth and Poole College of Further Education and the Arts Institute at Bournemouth have a wide range of vocational and academic courses, both full time and part time.
Bournemouth is further privileged in having its own university. Home to many centres of excellence, including the National Centre for Computer Animation and the International Centre for Tourism and Hospitality, it is particularly strong in vocational study. The University accommodates approximately 12,000 students, at both undergraduate and postgraduate level, on its two campuses in the town. Southampton and Portsmouth universities, too, are both within easy reach, and have excellent reputations. The University of Southampton is a research-led institution with strong links to industry and a wide range of areas of excellence, from nutrition to electronics. The University of Portsmouth is located across three campuses and has an international reputation for research, offering a range of skills and knowledge to businesses through its own limited company, UPEL.
