VAT Registrations

VAT registrations provide an indication as to the trend of business start-ups and closures across the UK and in individual industries. The figures refer to stock numbers of VAT registered businesses in 2006 and also compares changes in stock since 1994.

The statistics take into account all parts of the economy except a few VAT exempt sectors and the very smallest one person businesses which fall below the threshold for VAT registration.
